The Dinner Solution You Have Been Looking For!

The Dinner Solution You Have Been Looking For!

A Main and a Side

Do you have dinner overwhelm?

Is the thought of planning, shopping, prepping, and cooking the evening meals starting to get you down?

It does not need to.

The secret to healthy, easy meals is often simplifying.

Someone decided a long time ago that our meals (especially the last meal of the day) should include a complicated assortment of dishes.

I can remember, when I was a young girl, being taught that a complete supper included a protein, green veggie, starch, salad, and bread.

That’s a bunch of cooking and a whole lot of pressure.

There are several problems with this sort of evening feast.

  • Too much food. We are all over-fed.  Many years ago people lived on farms, grew their food and slept in cold houses.  They ate slabs of meat and a half dozen sides at every meal and they were thin.  They burned thousands of calories, and they needed to eat thousands of calories.   Today we live in warm homes, purchase our food from stores and tend to lead sedentary lives.  We do not need THAT much food.
  • So much work. Preparing sides, vegetables, salads, starches, and main dishes on a daily basis is time-consuming and can be overwhelming.
  • It is probably not necessary.  When we put organically grown vegetables and pastured meats on our plate- the food is nutrient dense.
    • We now know that a farm fresh egg from a pastured hen can nearly provide for our daily sustenance.
    • Bread made with freshly milled wheat contains almost everything we need, “In fact, of the 44 known essential nutrients needed by our bodies and naturally obtained from foods, only 4 are missing from wheat–vitamin A, B12, and C, and the mineral iodine.” – Sue Becker (Source)
    • Juicing easily provides the 11 recommended servings of fruits and vegetables.

The truth is, if we are eating nutrient-rich superfoods, we don’t need to consume a menagerie of sides, dishes, and courses.

Contrary to what Grandma told you, supper does not need to consist of a protein, green veggie, starch, salad, and bread.

If your diet consists of whole foods like fresh eggs and homemade bread, you are probably getting the nutrition you need.

Everything else is gravy.

Supper can be an easy, luxurious meal that is not fussy at all.

And do not worry, we never skimp on flavor.

Welcome to the easiest way to do dinner:

A MAIN AND A SIDE

We are taking the pressure off of dinner – and making it fabulous and easy!

When you resolve to a Main and a Side, the evening meal is a piece of cake.  Simply prepare the main dish and a beautiful side. That’s it.

Frequently, this can all be done in one dish.

Some fantastic Main & a Side Meals:

Roasted Leg of Lamb and Baby Potatoes – Roasts easily in one dish.

Pork Chops with Sage Cream Sauce & Fresh Asparagus – The pork chops come together quickly on the stovetop while the asparagus roasts in the oven.

Grass-fed Pot Roast with Root Vegetables – This is the best pot roast I’ve ever had.  And this is another one-pot meal that cooks itself.

Chicken Cacciatore with Peppers & Onions – This fresh version of the classic is unbelievably tasty and so simple.  Chicken and veggies all roast together while you do something else.

Lamb Meatballs with Spaghetti Squash – These meatballs bake in the oven!

Braised Brisket with Creamy Mashed Potatoes – The only thing fussy about this dish is it must cook a long time.  Prepare it ahead and let it roast low and slow.  Simply Scrumptious!

Not only is this sort of meal simple to prepare it is also delicious!
