How to Get a Bundt Cake Out of the Pan

If you are here, you may have a bundt cake stuck in a pan.

I have been where you are.

You went through all the time, effort and work to bake a beautiful bundt cake.

You have invested hard earned dollars into that cake in the form of butter, sugar, flour and eggs.

If you are a healthy guy or gal you may have invested quite a bit of hard-earned dollars on organic butter, cane juice crystals, organic flour and farm fresh eggs.

If you are a die-hard homesteader you may have churned that butter, collected those eggs and ground that wheat yourself.

Failure is not an option.

The cake must come out of the pan.

It must come out in one piece.

Please, oh please, let it come out in one piece.

Before you say a prayer, cross your fingers and hope for the best – read on.

To prevent from getting into this dreaded situation in the first place, here’s some things you can do:

  1. Spray the heck out of the inside of the bundt pan with some non-stick spray
    bundt
  2. After spraying it – Sprinkle in some flour – Shake out any excess
  3. Use parchment paper or foil.  This works like a dream and your cake should fall out of the pan.  Just trace the bundt shape on your parchment paper and cut it out.  bundt 1Then cut the hole for the center.  bundt 2Last, make some slits in the ring so it will mold to the form of the bundt.  Now you will have a “ring” you can place in the bottom of your bundt pan.bundt 4
  4. You can even add another layer of non-stick spray on top of the parchment paper (or foil)  just for good measure.

If you blanked out on the parchment paper or the cake is already baked, or maybe you did all those things and your cake is still stuck – there’s still hope!

First, let me tell you what not to do…..

Don’t  turn it over on it’s head and bang it on the floor.  It MAY come out.  But it might be in 60 pieces.  Or it may be in 12 pieces.  Or it may not come out at all.  It may just stick there in the pan like super-glue.   Or half of it may come out and the remainder will be stuck in the pan.  Or it may be scrambled by the time you dig the entire thing out with a knife.

Stupid bundt pan.

Here’s how I get the cake out of the pan… in one piece.

Let the cake cool completely.

After it is cool heat your oven to 250 degrees.  Put the cooked cake (that is still stuck in the bundt pan) into the 250 degree oven.  Cook 3 minutes.  Take it out and flip upside down onto a platter.

Plop!  Perfect bundt shaped coffee cake.   Amazing.

Now that you have your gorgeous cake out of the bundt pan – go drizzle with some icing or dust with some confectioners sugar or just slice it and serve it to happy people!
