Moving the Cows for Winter
Our cows spend most of the year in the front of our homestead in a beautiful pasture. It is divided into 2 fields so I can rotate them on and off of the land. It is a perfect home for a milk cow, complete with milking barn, shelter, and plenty of woods.
But, we do not let them spend winter on these glorious, grassy pastures. Here in Kentucky, winter is a wet, messy place. Leaving our cows on the grazing grounds for the soggiest months simply destroys the farm.
