Apple Tart
This tastes just like fall.
Not only is the taste smashing, when you bake this it will make your house smell like everything good.
Cinnamon, apples, sweetness. Anyone who enters your home the day you make this will want to move in.
As far as sweet goods go, this one is remarkable. It even makes the perfect breakfast. When I have company (think family visiting from out of town or kids sleepovers) I hate making breakfast.
It’s not that I mind cooking for guests – I love that part. It’s that my mornings are otherwise spoken for. Pigs, Milk cows, children, etc. If you want me to make you breakfast, we will be eating at 10:30.
This is a great solution. I can make it the day before & it is ready & waiting to be inhaled. All I have to do is make coffee.
This can be baked as a tart or muffins.
This Apple Tart is pretty much a pan filled with fresh apples & giant nut pieces with just enough cinnamon wonderfulness to hold it all together.
In addition to providing the easiest breakfast you’ll ever serve, this also makes a simple, fresh, unusual dessert.
Especially if you want dessert, but you don’t want chocolate and you don’t want to be in your kitchen cooking for the next hour.
This one is a winner.
Breakfast, brunch, cake with afternoon tea, or dessert – Yup – this is the one you want.
If you know someone who isn’t a “dessert” person and would rather have seconds on the mashed potatoes instead of the fudge cake – you should serve them this. All my “no dessert” friends can’t resist this dish.
This wonderful concoction has 2 heaping cups of fresh apples, a giant helping of delicious pecans and just the right amount of cinnamon. It’s a crunchy, apple-y, cinnamon-y, fresh, delightful treat.
It is light enough to eat after a meal and not go into a food coma.
It is fresh enough to make you think you are eating something good for you.
It is sweet enough to pass for a dessert.
It is healthy enough to eat for breakfast with your coffee (ok, maybe that’s a stretch – but I did. And I recommend it.)
Mix together melted butter, sugar (I use cane juice crystals), eggs, vanilla, salt, cinnamon, baking powder & flour (I use organic).
I ended up using 5 apples for this recipe. My apples were small. If you have large ones you’ll only need 2 or 3.
Just measure out 2 cups of (peeled, diced) apples & you’ve got it.
Mine are Organic Gala, but just about any apple will do. I think Granny Smith are the best, but I didn’t have any, so I used these.
Peel, core, and dice all the apples until you have 2 heaping cups.
Stir the apples into the batter & add 1 cup of nuts (I like pecans best).
Pour the batter into a casserole & bake 350 degrees until it’s done (about 1 hour).
And it will be sensational!! I promise.
I like it best with a dollop of whipped cream. It is perfect without it as well. There is no wrong way to enjoy this one. YUM!!
